Macau shuts Lisboa because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Announced in the novel coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre press conference, Liz Lam Tong Hou of the Macao Government Tourism Office revealed the news. Similar outbreaks have caused 17 buildings all around the area to be cordoned off overall.

On Wednesday, 146 fresh infections were recorded in the area; since June, the overall count is more than 1,000 cases; more than 14,000 people are under quarantine across the city.

According to SJM Holdings, the owner of the resort, in a statement on Wednesday it would "continue to implement strict containment measures, as the health and safety of all guests and employees represent its top priorities".

The news follows closely after the Macau legislature approved significant changes to casino policies.
